Knubble Bay: Knubble Bay Camp to Maine Maritime Museum, Bath Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The possibilities for sea kayaking and tidewater canoeing are limitless from Knubble Bay, literally a turntable of rivers giving access to commanding bays, lonely islands, secluded coves, and busy coastal towns. Knubble Bay Camp, located near Georgetown, and Beal Island Campground on Beal Island, a twenty-minute paddle from Knubble Bay Camp, are owned and managed by the Appalachian Mountain Club.

Beal Island, 64 acres of wooded land covered in pines, cedars, a few oaks, and alders, is about 0.25 mile north up Knubble Bay from Knubble Bay Camp and is accessible in all tide levels. The island has a rustic campground and a permanent fire permit in place for the season. Dedicated volunteers on fall and spring work parties keep the island in great shape, including solid stairs down to the beach and posts to tie your kayak to."
