Harris Farm Cross-Country Ski Center Trails Professional Review and Guide
"This family-owned, 500-acre plot is home to a dairy farm, a tree farm, a maple sugaring business, a vegetable farm stand, and, in the not-so-off-season, a cross-country ski center. If you have Nordic skiers in your crowd, small children, or just want to tromp around in the quiet woods and snow-covered fields, this off-the-beaten-path property is a fine destination. Located about a half-hour from the resort town of Kennebunk, the farm is a serene haven, with warming huts, equipment rentals, a sledding hill for the kids, and a helpful, friendly staff.
The trails access more than 1000 acres of private land, including neighboring acreage and forest. There are 65 kilometers (40.3 miles) of groomed, designated trails, but snowshoers can also make their own tracks through sheltered forests and open fields. Trails range from gentle beginners’ loops to rolling terrain with some lively ups and downs. And, thankfully, the only snowmobile you’ll see around here belongs to the Harrises; snow machines are forbidden on these pristine acres."
