The Bowl Trail

The Bowl Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This hike leads to a mountain pond called the Bowl, where you may encounter wildlife. You can connect to the Gorham Mountain and Champlain South Ridge Trails and find more moderate ascents up the back side of the nearby Beehive—a nice alternative to climbing the iron ladder rungs up that peak’s cliff.

Views of a great blue heron taking off low across the water’s surface or of a turkey vulture soaring high on the thermals are among the possible rewards when you hike to the Bowl, a mountain pond at more than 400 feet in elevation. We got lucky and got both views in the same day as we walked along the shoreline. Another time, during a hike down from the Bowl, we heard a loud snorting in the woods. A couple of white-tailed deer darted through the trees, the snorting apparently an alarm call."

Did as a continuation of Gorham Mountain Trail. The trail was okay through the woods mostly uphill. The lake is beautiful, peaceful and quiet. We hung out on the rocks on its shore and enjoyed the tranquility.

This trail was the last one we did on our trip. This trail was moderately difficult trail. There was alot of up hill but The Bowl at the top is amazing. I have never seen such a clear lake in my life. The trail there is easy to follow.
