Acadia National Park Cruise

Acadia National Park Cruise Professional Review and Guide

"The carriage paths lacing Acadia National Park, on Maine's famous Mount Desert Island, are one of Acadia's unique features. These dirt roads, winding through the island's interior forests and skirting its lakes and Mountains, afford spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean.

This is a beautiful tour on a sunny afternoon in August or a dark and dripping early morning in April-when Acadia's forests and mountains take on an isolated magnificence most tourists miss. Highlights abound, including spruce-framed views of Somes Sound and a dramatic passage along a ridge between Jordan Pond and Penobscot Mountain."

The ride around the Park Loop Road and Cadillac Mountain is one of my favorite road rides anywhere. There are beautiful views around every bend, and the one-way traffic around about half of the ride make it all the more enjoyable. There is a considerable abount of climbing on this ride, but it is short. We do this ride whenver we're in the area.
Great road ride with lots to see. A few tough climbs but worth the views. The best way to see Acadia is by bike. Every turn is a new view. Jordon Pond is a good place to stop for Lunch and rest by the pond and enjoy. The 2 lane one way road sections of the park provide safe and fun biking for the whole family. There is a biult-in sag too. There is a free bus system that goes to the major attractions in the park. The bus has a bike rack. NOT that we used it, it is an option for those who might get stranded or have mechanical problems or just have over done it for the day.
