Mopang Lakes Professional Review and Guide

"Mopang Lake and Second Mopang Lake are among the many great paddling lakes in Washington County, Maine. This county, also known as Sunrise County, feels the morning rays of sun before anywhere else in the United States. The larger lake is somewhat bell shaped, with a sizable peninsula (almost an island) near the south end and numerous islands and large boulders near the north end.

Typical Maine trees populate the shore: red spruce, northern white cedar, white pine, hemlock, some red pine, paper birch, and maple. The shoreline overflows with sweet gale, leather leaf, rhodora (a beautiful pink wild azalea that blooms in May), alder, and highbush blueberry. Mopang Second Lake resembles its larger neighbor, but has a more remote feeling to it. Prominent fish species: white perch and chain pickerel."
