Lower Togus Pond

Lower Togus Pond Professional Review and Guide

"Lower Togus Pond is long and narrow, with no development until you get to the very lowest section. Because it is so shallow and weedy, there is little boat traffic. There are several islands and lots of coves, but what really draw and hold one’s attention are the literally hundreds of acres of fragrant water lily, especially in the extensive coves along the western shore.

Some of these patches extend unbroken for 100 yards and more. There are sundews and pitcher plants everywhere on the hummocks, and every native variety of bog vegetation certainly must be present. This is an extraordinarily beautiful canoeing spot, which would take the better part of a day to explore fully. It is a place that can be paddled on windy days, because the acres of water lilies damp the swells, and the numerous islands block the wind."
