"This very easy trail along an old road brings you to pink- granite outcrops along the shore and tide pools at low tide. You may see skunk cabbage along the way, and wonder why broken-up mussel shells are found inland along the trail rather than on the coastline." Read more

"This very easy trail along an old road brings you to pink granite outcrops along the shore and tide pools at low tide. You may see skunk cabbage along the way and wonder why there are broken mussel shells inland along the trail rather than on the coastline. Once you see the smooth pink granite along the shore, smell the salty sea, and explore the tide pools, you will know why they call this Wonderland. The very easy trail along an old gravel road starts by winding through dark woods, but a huge smooth pink granite rock on the left soon hints at the show to come." Read more

"Even folks confined to wheelchairs or youngsters exploring from strollers will be able to enjoy all that Wonderland has to offer because the hiking route follows an old gravel road (not open to vehicles). The road winds through a spruce forest punctuated with bogs to arrive at a rocky coastline. Bikinis and beach volleyball have no place here; this is a true Maine seashore. The kids will delight in scaling the massive flattened chunks of ledge that line the beach. You may decide to extend the hike to join the Ship Harbor Trail farther along the beach." Read more

Wonderland Trail is a very bland walk to the ocean. If you are looking for a quick, easy hike with great views I would recommend Ship Harbor just down the road.
