"This isolated inland loop takes you along the north-south ridge of Isle au Haut and a trail named for an early resident of Isle au Haut. There are no ocean views here unless you take the optional southern spur of the Median Ridge Trail, but there are towering old-growth trees, bogs with big skunk cabbages, and a rock garden. Out of the way and with no coastal views, the north spur of the Median Ridge Trail is most useful for hikers with overnight accommodations as part of long day hikes traversing the island." Read more
