Duck Harbor Mountain Trail Professional Review and Guide
"The hike up Duck Harbor Mountain to its panoramic views is the most strenuous on Isle au Haut, with lots of ups and downs in less than 0.5 mile. Climb over steep rocky knobs known as the Puddings, and circle back along the rugged coast on the Goat Trail. The Duck Harbor Mountain Trail, reached 0.1 mile south of Duck Harbor Landing off the unpaved Western Head Road, begins steeply through the woods, alternating between switchbacks and brief flat sections on ridges. The sound of the surf is always in the background. At 0.3 mile turn sharp right (south) onto an open ledge and see the vast forest to the east."
