Saint Mary's River State Park

Saint Mary's River State Park Professional Review and Guide

"Boasting more than eight miles of pristine singletrack, Saint Mary's lake is like an Eastern Shore destination. The ride's lack of serious elevation change make this trail ideal for beginner to intermediate riders. Not to discourage the advanced rider, however, the winding singletrack trails make for great fun. Enjoy the variety of terrain that this trail has to offer.

Southern Maryland does not usually conjure up images of great mountain biking terrain. However, near Lexington Park, north of Saint Mary’s City in Saint Mary’s County, is a small treasure not too many off - road cyclists know about—Saint Mary’s River State Park. Located between Leonardtown and Lexington Park, near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, this remote park boasts more than 8 miles of pristine singletrack.
Making a short trip to Saint Mary’s City, designated a national historic landmark, is well worth the time."

This was our first mountain biking trail. Rode the trail both ways and it was great! Not too busy but rode on a weekday. Several loops off the main trail add to the overall distance. Will definitely go back!
Great trail! Its not too difficult for beginners but is definitely a challenging ride for the novice riders. I'd recommend getting a little singletrack experience in before you try this trail.
