Loch Raven Reservoir: Jessops Circuit with Spur Professional Review and Guide
"A short and sweet loop hike on a ridgeline affords you an overlook view of the reservoir as well as views of a peaceful lowland cove of the Loch Raven Reservoir. Just steps away from the popular Torrey C. Brown Trail (formerly the NCR) is a little-known loop hike through a forest of pine trees and hardwoods in the Loch Raven watershed. Little-known does not mean little to love. There is something about this place that is calm and peaceful even though you aren’t far from Paper Mill Road on the first half of the loop. From ridgeline views to wetlands and wildlife, this hike offers a variety of natural features in a short distance. The hike begins on a very short paved portion of what looks like a fire road until it becomes a natural surface just steps later. About 30 feet after it turns into a dirt path, you’ll notice a narrow trail that heads to the right and a wider trail heading gradually uphill to the left. The narrow path is a spur trail to a wetland a peaceful cove awaits you at the end of a spur trail along the Jessops Circuit loop trail."
