Blackbone Mountain - Maryland Highpoint

Blackbone Mountain - Maryland Highpoint Professional Review and Guide

"Highpoint rank by height: 32nd. This highpoint was "adopted" by Gene and Lillian Elliott of Oakland, MD, who did a great job of marking the trail to the highpoint. This used to be a very confusing trail, but is now easy to follow.

The highest point on Backbone Mountain is called "Hoye Crest." The "Eastern Continental Divide" runs along portions of Backbone Mountain. Similar to the "Continental Divide" that runs along the Rocky Mountains, rivers originating east of this mountain range drain into the Atlantic Ocean, while rivers originating west of the range drain into the Gulf of Mexico."

The most difficult part of this climb was finding the trailhead - nice view - easy hiking, great for kids
