McKee-Beshers Wildlife Management Area

McKee-Beshers Wildlife Management Area Professional Review and Guide

"Wedged between the Potomac River and River Road in western Montgomery County, lies a little-known wildlife management area where careful hikers can roam a splendid expanse of bird-rich crop fields, wetlands, woodlands, and hedgerows.

Please note that you can easily get into grassy areas that are difficult to navigate, so it is best to stay on well-groomed terrain. This 5.1-mile hike samples the WMA’s fields, woodlands, hedgerows, and adjoining areas. Because the fields rotate each year, it is possible that an appropriate trailhead may be relocated. You should look carefully at the map to plan your route as not all trails connect."

Trail experience was limited by storm damage. The trail to the falls was closed due to storm damage. There was a lot of deadfall on the trail.

This is a beautiful trail with lots of variety. There is a hearty incline at about 3 miles in and about 7 miles in, so pace yourself.
