Greenbelt Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Secreted in Prince George’s County, well-wooded Greenbelt Park is a great place to get fresh air and exercise, take in seasonal color, walk with friends, and contemplate life. Located a dozen miles northeast of the White House, Greenbelt Park ranks as the second-largest nature preserve within the Capital Beltway (after Rock Creek Park). Covering 1,100 acres, it is nestled amid a grid of major highways and suburban streets. Most of it remains undeveloped, with picnic areas and a campground being its major attractions.
But it’s also an attractive—if little-used—hiking locale. This hike is an easy 6.7-mile loop through the woods, with little elevation change. Each season offers an array of phenomena to observe. Only in a few places does the outside world intrude, and that’s mostly in the form of traffic noise near the park boundaries."
