New Germany State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"New Germany sits on the eastern side of the Continental Divide, but just barely. This makes it part of the Chesapeake watershed, a thought-provoking fact—if you’re camping here, you’ll feel a long way from Bay Country.
This is mountainous, unspoiled western Maryland—black bears, heavy snow, and all. In the park, the main attraction is 13-acre New Germany Lake, great for boating, fishing, and swimming. A result of damming Poplar Lick, New Germany Lake contains bass, catfish, tiger muskie, and trout. These same fish species, as well as walleye, can be reeled in from Poplar Lick. The campground is wooded and private."
