Rocky Gap State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"The park itself contains more than 3,000 acres, including 243-acre Lake Habeeb. Many first-time campers at Rocky Gap seeking to get away from it all are horrified when they enter the park and see the sprawling complex before them. Take heart: planners had the good sense to at least build the resort and golf course on the other side of Lake Habeeb from the campgrounds.
So, although you have to drive through the resort area to get to your campsite, once there you will enjoy relative solitude (as much as a campground with 278 sites can offer). Even better, hiking away from the lake will leave all the bustle behind and you’ll likely cross very few people as you make your way around Evitts Mountain, named for the settler who built his cabin here in the 1730s."
