Hart-Miller Island State Park Campground Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"If you want to feel like a modern day Robinson Crusoe, take a boat to Hart-Miller Island, at the mouth of the Back River in the Chesapeake Bay. OK, it’s not so remote that you’ll feel like that famous castaway, but camping at Hart-Miller is a unique experience in any case. There are some hiking trails on the island, but they’re few, and at 244 acres the park can be exhausted fairly easily.
The entire island is considerably larger, more than 1,100 acres, but much of it is off-limits. So don’t expect oodles of recreation. Still, this isn’t why people go to the island. If you’ve spent the day kayaking the area and want a place to stop, fish, swim, and then pitch your tent under the stars and listen to the soft lap of small waves, you couldn’t pick a better location."
