Centennial Park

Centennial Park Professional Review and Guide

"Stroll around man-made Centennial Lake, an oasis in the middle of Columbia, and enjoy the diversity of foliage in Centennial Arboretum. You will pass a volleyball court and playgrounds at 150 feet on the right.

A thick stand of trees on the left buffers the trail from MD 108. On the right you’ll see a large patch of wildflowers, a mélange of purple, yellow, and white; a hill rises beyond it. Centennial Lake lies on the other side of the hill."

If you like lots of people and activity this is the place for you. I gave it an average rating because you're either going to love it or hate it. The wildlife management area is unique. The arboretum is a nice touch.

The trail is all paved and offers little solitude among the stroller moms, joggers, cyclists, and other folks out with their kids. If looking for a trail to hike off the beaten down path I would recommend somewhere else

For a short hike it doesn't get much better than this. The entire path is paved and there are rolling hills and about half of the almost 2.5 miles is in the shade. Many forms of wildlife may be seen. The park has fantastic facilities and is canine and family friendly.
