Cold River Dead Man's Curve to Deerfield River

Cold River: Dead Man's Curve to Deerfield River Professional Review and Guide

"You’re lucky to run the Cold when it’s completely free of ice, since most of its season is in the late winter or early spring just as the snow begins melting. It’s not unusual for it to run briefly just after a summer rain, but the window of opportunity is very narrow, with the river sometimes staying at a runnable level only for four to six hours.

The level is critical any time you run it, since above about 7.0 on the gauge the Cold becomes an awesome class V flush with perhaps one eddy every mile or two, powerful holes, and nonstop whitewater."
