Field Farm Reservation Professional Review and Guide
"Lying in the valley between the Greylock Range and the Taconics, this Trustees property has an agricultural legacy dating back more than 250 years. Today it beckons hiker, cross-country skier, and snowshoer alike with a fine trail network in a truly bucolic setting offering delightful mountain vistas.
After studying the kiosk, where trail maps are available, turn onto Pond Trail and follow the mowed path through shrubby growth, which includes invasive exotic multiflora rose, Morrow’s honeysuckle, and buckthorn. Soon you’ll reach a spring-fed pond adjacent to the former guesthouse, called The Folly. Turn right to follow along the pond shore past a cattail marsh where muskrats—smaller cousins of the beaver—reside. You may have to tread gently over the waterlogged beaver dam and outflow when the water level is high before finding firmer footing beyond."
