D.A.R. State Forest Professional Review and Guide

"Four miles NW of Williamsburg. This relaxing hike travels the northwest quadrant of the forest, visiting lakeshore, marshy drainage, mixed woods, and Goshen Fire Tower. Special attractions: Quiet lakeshore, summit vistas, hemlock-hardwood forest, stone walls and ruins, mountain laurel and spring wildflowers, fall foliage."

"The town of Goshen, off MA 112, 15 miles northwest of Northhampton. Several stretches of trail are steep and obstructed-know your limits. You might encounter horseback riders and hikers on the trails; be considerate of these slower-moving users."

We tried to do this hike (sort of) in May 2016. Arriving at the entrance to the state forest we found a sign that said the forest and all the trails were closed due to the dam renovation. The sign did not say how long D.A.R. would be closed, but if you're planning on doing this hike anytime during 2016, I'd check first before driving to the trailhead.
