Wellfleet Harbor and Great Island Professional Review and Guide
"Wellfleet has an aesthetically pleasing harbor that begs for exploration by kayak. Opening to the south and protected by the long arm of Great Island to the west, it feels big but not overwhelming. Paddlers can look out at the attractive landforms bordering the harbor and think, I’d like to go there, and do it, returning in time for a terrific sunset.
One such trip is the moderately ambitious trek to Great Island and Jeremy Point, part of the Cape Cod National Seashore. For the best trip, visit in September when shorebirds and seals replace the tourists and crisp, dry air supplants summer’s mugginess. Attractions: Cape Cod National Seashore, salt marsh, bird-watching, sandy beach for picnicking, swimming."
