Tristate Cruise Ride Professional Review and Guide
"The Tristate Cruise is a tour of the very rural, mostly wooded, lake-studded countryside surrounding the point where Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut meet. The terrain is not as hilly as in the surrounding areas. The lightly traveled back roads, winding through the woods and along several ponds, promise enjoyable and peaceful bicycling.
The ride starts in Webster, a small Massachusetts mill city on the French River just north of the Connecticut line. You’ll immediately head into rolling, wooded countryside to the tiny village of West Sutton and pass Sutton Falls, a small dam with a little covered bridge above it. Just ahead are pleasant roads along Manchaug Pond and then Whitin Reservoir, where you’ll pass a waterslide (here’s your chance to descend a different type of hill). From here it’s a short way to the graceful, classic New England village of Douglas."
