Shelburne Falls Challenge Ride Professional Review and Guide
"The Shelburne Falls Challenge is not for the timid. With more than 4, 300 feet of climbing in just 50 miles, this tour of unspoiled small towns will take some effort. Far from any metropolitan area, the landscape is very rural, with virtually no traffic except for a couple of crossings at State Route 2 and Interstate 91, as well as a brief stretch on SR 2 near the end of the ride. You’ll traverse a harmonious mix of woods and farmland, with hills rising in the distance across the fields.
The ride starts from Shelburne Falls, an attractive town with galleries and craft shops gracing the handsome brick buildings in the downtown area. The town spans both sides of the Deerfield River, although most of the activity is on the east bank. Crossing the river is the lovely Bridge of Flowers, a pedestrian bridge lined with plants and flowers on both sides."
