Bog Pond

Bog Pond Professional Review and Guide

"Combine a boggy wetland with a government project to build a dam and the fortunate result is a fascinating pond to view wildlife, unusual plants, and the occasional llama. The lakes and ponds of the Berkshire Plateau differ significantly from those in other areas of the Berkshires.

The knobby, poorly drained landscape is astride acidic bedrock, a combination that favors often shallow boggy ponds. Many times and over many thousands of years, some of the shallow ponds have grown in and become boggy swamps. At least once, however, a boggy swamp has become a pond."
