Breakheart Reservation

Breakheart Reservation Professional Review and Guide

"This walk leads to a variety of features, including the Saugus River and its associated wetlands, an outcropping, rocky hills, and ponds. For history buffs, the place to go is the Old Stone Church, located on the shores of the reservoir just off Route 140 about 200 yards past where it splits from Route 12.

Hiking is allowed in any area that is not posted. The entrances currently open are gates 6 to 16 along Route 70, gates 17 to 24 along Route 140, and gates 25 to 35 along Routes 12 and 110. The Department of Conservation and Recreation is permitting skiing and snowshoeing on portions of the eastern shore along Route 70 (gates 7 to 15) on a trial basis."
