Salem Sound (Salem and Beverly Harbors) Professional Review and Guide
"This is a thoroughly enjoyable, albeit primarily urban, paddle through an interesting and bustling sound. The densely settled shoreline is dotted with beaches and parks, and maritime activity is everywhere. For inexperienced paddlers, the abundance of fellow boaters, shore fishermen, and beach picnickers is reassuring.
On summer weekends, however, the hectic traffic can unnerve and even endanger novices. For safe and hassle-free paddling, kayak early or late in the day and cross boat channels with care. Attractions: Public parks; picnic areas; and beaches; Rockmore Restaurant (floating restaurant in season); camping on Winter Island."
