Provincetown Harbor

Provincetown Harbor Professional Review and Guide

"Paddling out of Provincetown Harbor provides great views of the town as well as terrific opportunities to explore the magnificent Cape Cod National Seashore. Seldom can urban and natural adventures be combined so seamlessly. The trip’s only drawbacks are summer crowds, boat traffic, and parking hassles. For a touch of serenity and sanity, visit before July 4 or after Labor Day.

The trip described below stays within Cape Cod Bay, so kayakers avoid the heavy surf and currents encountered off Race Point. Attractions: Historic harbor, wreck, picnicking and swimming at Cape Cod National Seashore and Race Point."

Nice, fairly easy paddle. Boat traffic fairly heavy. Few nice beaches to pull up to and relax. Most of trip is well sheltered within the harbor, slightly more exposure in the bay but still relatively calm.
