Connecticut River Pauchaug Boat Ramp to Riverview Picnic Area

Connecticut River: Pauchaug Boat Ramp to Riverview Picnic Area Professional Review and Guide

"If you like mysteries and stories of ghosts and phantom ships, this is the trip for you. But, of course, there is more to look forward to than spectral delights. The journey from Pauchaug Meadow to Riverview Picnic Area passes by the rusting remains of the Schell Bridge, all that remains of a century-old love story.

In addition you will see the Bennet Meadow Wildlife Area with abundant water birds and other wildlife, and the Connecticut River island named for Captain William Kidd, the feared pirate who allegedly buried treasure there before he was captured and hanged. You can guess, no doubt, where the ghosts and phantom ships come in. This is a lovely section of river, even without all the added attractions. The river is broad throughout the trip, offering the peaceful feeling that partnership with a wide expanse of water can bring. And the views, which often include a rolling landscape cradling the slowly flowing river, are pastoral and idyllic."

This was the second part of our 2-day trip on the Connecticut. We camped overnight at Munn's Ferry Campground. Call Barton's Cove or check out the web site http://www.firstlightpower.com/northfield/camping.asp) for information on this awesome overnight paddle.
