Hammond Pond-Houghton Garden Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"A hidden gem, this historic and scenic hike passes a 10-acre pond and crosses the tracks of part of the nation’s oldest subway system before touring a 19th-century deer park and a garden listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Recent rehabilitation work and upgrading has made parts of the Houghton Garden wheelchair accessible. Be exceptionally careful, as this hike crosses the tracks of the MBTA D train Green Line. Houghton Garden is popular among birders."
