Dunbar Brook South Road to Dunbar Brook Trailhead

Dunbar Brook: South Road to Dunbar Brook Trailhead Professional Review and Guide

"Dunbar Brook is one of the narrowest, steepest, most extreme creeks in the Deerfield River’s watershed. For it to be runnable, you need lots of rain or snowmelt over a short period of time, and a small, very experienced group of paddlers. The first descent was done by a party of four, and it took more than four hours to run 3.0 river miles with no major incidents.

The river runs through Monroe State Forest and meets roads only at the put-in and takeout, so be prepared for a hike out if you have problems. A trail follows the river through the forest. It is on river left upstream of the footbridge and on river right downstream of the footbridge."
