Assabet River Rail Trail Professional Review and Guide
"The Esplanade, Emerald Necklace, and Arboretum are all great for a quick fix of forest close to the city. But for a real taste of the wild woods, you have to head beyond the city line and even the suburbs. This ride goes for a loop around the deep forest of Stow’s Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge some 20 miles west of Boston, then winds through the back woods along farm country and the Assabet River Rail-Trail toward Marlborough and back. Few routes hit this sweet spot of pristine and tranquil nature with such a smooth, even ride."
