Massasoit State Park

Massasoit State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Located on the northern edge of Massachusetts’s coastal sand plain, this park marks a transition from the more thickly forested hills of northeastern Massachusetts to the flat,
sandy lands of Cape Cod and the coast.

The trail touches the edge of Big Bearhole Pond, with wonderful views of this forested lake and the scrub oak and pitch pine growing on its sandy shores. The walk ends as you reach a cranberry bog near the front gate."

Massasiot State Part was okay for a place really close to home. It at least got me out in the woods. I went in knowing it may not be great. My biggest complaint is the fact that you can hear or see cars/roads half the time you're out there. But if you just want to get out in the woods for a couple hours, get some exercise, and not drive 1+ hours, not a bad place.
