Henry L Shattuck Reservation

Henry L. Shattuck Reservation Professional Review and Guide

"Shattuck Reservation has all the ingredients to support a variety of wildlife: 1.25 miles of frontage along the Charles River, broad wetlands, and upland forests of white pine, oak, and red maples that lie close to the water. Dogwoods and crab apple trees have been planted to improve the habitat for wildlife. Like the Noon Hill Reservation next door, Shattuck Reservation receives few visitors, which allows for better wildlife viewing along with peaceful hiking and cross-country skiing.

The reservation lies between the Charles River to the west and Causeway Street to the east. Causeway Street is a seldom used dirt road that runs along the edge of the great Millis-Medfield Marsh. Be sure to walk or drive northward up this narrow road to view the confluence of the Stop River and the Charles. A picturesque wooden bridge passes over the Stop River offering views of the marshlands. Highlights: Woodland trail to Charles River."
