North River to Cove Brook

North River to Cove Brook Professional Review and Guide

"This very short paddle is a pleasant and relaxing excursion at high tide. It takes paddlers to a small tidal creek bordering the Nelson Memorial Forest. On narrow, meandering Cove Brook, in the noisy company of birds and insects, disappear briefly into the isolation and beauty of the salt marsh.

The trip is of particular interest to naturalists, for over the course of a mile the brook travels from saltwater estuary to freshwater marsh. For greatest ease of paddling, launch very close to high tide to take advantage of slack tide and to enjoy the greatest amount of water in the tidal creek. Attractions: Narrow tidal river through salt marsh; bird-watching."
