Jug End and Mount Everett Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This hike leads to tremendous views of the Housatonic River Valley, Mount Greylock, and the rest of the Berkshires from atop Jug End. It then continues to the ninth-highest peak in Massachusetts, Mount Everett, which has a panoramic view of the Taconic and Berkshire Ranges.
From Jug End Road, follow the A.T. south and ascend gradually 0.25 mile. The climb then becomes quite steep. At mile 0.75, there is a good view from an exposed rock face. In another 0.4 mile, reach the summit of Jug End. Continue on the A.T., cross two unnamed peaks, and reach the summit of Mount Bushnell (elevation 1,834'). From Mount Bushnell, hike 1.1 miles to Glen Brook Shelter and another 0.1 mile to a side trail to Hemlocks Shelter. In another 0.3 mile, reach the Guilder Pond Picnic Area. The pond is on your right. There is a loop trail around the pond, which uses the A.T. to complete the loop."
