Goose Pond and Upper Goose Pond

Goose Pond and Upper Goose Pond Professional Review and Guide

"Time machines are things of fiction, but when you paddle Goose Pond and Upper Goose Pond it is easy to believe that these magic contraptions actually exist. Goose Pond is a handsome lake tastefully decorated with well-maintained cottages along its wooded shore. As you travel along the north shore the signs of civilization diminish until you reach more than 2,000 feet of undeveloped waterfront that is part of The Trustees of Reservations’ 112-acre Goose Pond Reservation.

The lovely boulder-strewn woods are open for your exploration. This stretch of wild shore leads to a short waterway that is the gateway to Upper Goose Pond, a completely other world indeed. Enjoy the peacefulness here that seems a relic of less hectic times but is an excellent reason to come back again and again."

This is a nice wooded stretch of the AT, mostly flat, though there is a climb onto the ridge, and then back out. Upper Goose Pond is a great, cold, clean, and undeveloped swimming hole.
