Lauras Tower and Ice Glen Trail

Lauras Tower and Ice Glen Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Ice Glen is magnificent in the spring when the meltwaters freeze and produce natural ice sculptures that cling to the cliffs and boulders. It is also very dangerous then because hikers are forced to scramble over ice-covered rocks and crevices.

The glen is an exciting place to be on Halloween, too, when Stockbridge folks make their way through this maze of boulders carrying torches. But the best time for a family to visit this dark gorge is on a day in August, because the shape and depth of the ravine ensure that even on the steamiest of summer days, it will be “air-conditioned.” Before tackling the glen, stroll through the woods to Lauras Tower for a lovely view of the area surrounding historic Stockbridge."
