Cranberry Pond Conservation Area

Cranberry Pond Conservation Area Professional Review and Guide

"Within the heart of suburbia lie acres of hilly, rocky woodlands surrounding secluded little Cranberry Pond. The region of our walk is known as the Cranberry Pond Conservation Area, which is part of the Holbrook and Braintree Town Forests.

Skunk, raccoon, and rabbit live in these woodlands. The diverse features here include exposed bedrock and scattered boulders (always fun for youngsters who enjoy climbing), a tiny rare quaking bog (complete with insect-eating sundews and pitcher plants), and a small stream that tumbles over rocks and boulders. In the spring and summer you will find wildflowers scattered through the forest of hemlock, beech, maple, and a scattering of shining holly trees which sparkle in the sun. Highlights: Woodland trail to pond."
