World's End Reservation

World's End Reservation Professional Review and Guide

"World’s End: what a great name. And what a great place. Should a visitor to eastern Massachusetts have time to visit only one natural area, I would recommend World’s End. In my opinion this is the most beautiful reservation in the area and certainly one of the most scenic in the entire country. With a glowing description like that, one might ask what makes this area so unique.

First of all, World’s End is a peninsula that juts out from the mainland separating Hingham Harbor from the mouth of the Weir River, providing magnificent views in every direction. (It is unknown who named World’s End or why, but I assume it got its name because it is a peninsula.) The rolling, open terrain will make you feel like you’re on the landscaped grounds of some English estate. Best of all, World’s End is a prime spot for viewing migratory birds. Highlights: Tremendous views, rolling fields along ocean’s edge, ponds."

A nice hike for beginners with trail options, picnic facilities, groomed trails, good views of Boston. Our group included a 12 yr. old, a mom with a jogging stroller, and a 64 year old. We had no problems. It's a good introduction to hiking for families.

Sunny Mid August Afternoon. Pleasant beyond measure. Salt Marsh with wading birds at low tide, just after entrance. Views of Boston somewhat obscured by foliage during the summer season. Lots of poison Ivy off trails.
