World’s End Reservation

World’s End Reservation Professional Review and Guide

"It’s easy to see why this area has been dubbed World’s End. Wide carriage roads wind high up through rolling meadows, providing ocean vistas and Boston skyline views. Fredrick Law Olmsted, designer of New York City’s Central Park, was commissioned to design a housing development here in the late 1800s, but resident opposition stopped the construction.

Next up, this bucolic peninsula overlooking Boston Harbor
in the distance was on the short list for serving as the United Nations headquarters site, but New York City beat it out. Finally when a nuclear power plant was proposed here in the late 1970s, concerned citizens rallied together to preserve this tract of land once and for all. Enjoy their foresight on this route."
