"Whitney and Thayer Woods—originally the “Common Lands of the Hingham Planters”—came into existence thanks to a few generous donations to The Trustees of Reservations. Though quite large at more than 800 acres, the woods are easily navigated thanks to trail intersection markers. With ten miles of trails, the trail network offers many combinations of various lengths. Maps are generally available at the parking lot, but it is a good idea to download the map ahead of time in case they have all been taken."

"Hiking through miles of groomed carriage roads and rugged footpaths through hemlock and holly groves, you’ll see such spectacles as a magnificent woodland garden and spectacular granite gardens left by the glaciers. Some of the wider carriage roads may be traversable by wheelchair, but the trails included in this hiking route are not."
