Monument Valley Ramble

Monument Valley Ramble Professional Review and Guide

"Centering on the Housatonic River Valley, winding across its plain and rolling along the foothills this ride is virtually flat its entire first half, once you climb the initial mile-long hill. Passing cottages and cornfields, the long stretch from the village of South Egremont to Sheffield is particularly pleasant.

Terrain: rolling hills with only two climbs longer than .5 miles. Moderately smooth road surface and usually light traffic. Traffic/Safety: watch for heavy traffic along Rte. 7. Also, take care when crossing the railroad tracks at the end of Sheffield-S. Egremont Rd. and at the intersection of Routes 7 and 41, just after crossing the Housatonic River."
