Granville State Forest

Granville State Forest Professional Review and Guide

"Forest roads and double-track trails bisect this state forest known for wildlife. Granville State Forest is a wild patch of more than 2,000 acres perched at the southeastern edge of the Berkshire Plateau.

There are large expanses of swampy forest and shallow beaver ponds along with steep ravines and turbulent brooks. The western half of Granville is circumscribed by three wide dirt roads and a double-track trail filled with whoopdedoos passing through deep forest. Wildlife is much more plentiful here than in many other state forests, with black bears being particularly common."
