Gloucester Harbor

Gloucester Harbor Professional Review and Guide

"The west side of Gloucester Harbor is surprisingly beautiful. Steep, forested cliffs rise from the water, and lovely parks preserve graceful beaches and rocky shores. This trip explores the northern reaches of Massachusetts Bay and traverses one of the most important and historic fishing ports in the United States.

The scenic paddle is most enjoyable in the off-season when boat traffic is light and harbor seals are frolicking. Attractions: Historic Gloucester Harbor; Hammond Castle; Stage Fort Park; Eastern Point Lighthouse."

Enjoyable sea kayak. Easy access. Only issue is the harbor boat traffic - noise & 'right of way'. Worth doing early in the day.
