Martha's Vineyard Striper Fishing

Martha's Vineyard Striper Fishing Professional Review and Guide

"Of the offshore islands of consequence, each can lay claim to a certain unique quality: Block Island is largely undiscovered; Nantucket is the most charming; the Vineyard celebrates surfcasting with terrific enthusiasm. Very soon after one leaves the ferry, it becomes excitingly evident to any shore fisherman that surfcasting is alive and well on Martha’s Vineyard. I am, of course, indebted to the late Robert Post, the author of an unforgettably charming collection of Vineyard surf-fishing portraits in his book, Reading the Water (Globe Pequot).

When reading Post, one develops an appreciation for both natural history and the island’s rich lore. Indeed, he engages his reader on any number of levels while never losing touch with a simple, folksy style that irrevocably touches something in each of us. Yet the mission of worshipping at the altar of surfcasting is never more than a cast away. Thus, while you wend your way along the streets and shores of the Vineyard, you are unwittingly taking the medicine of enlightenment while tasting the sweetness of play. This eTrail contains 5 different surfcasting locations for striped bass including Vineyard Bridges, Wasque Point, Squibnocket Point, Gay Head Cliffs / Pilots Landing, and Lobsterville Beach and Jetty."
