Goat Peak Lookout Trail

Goat Peak Lookout Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Mount Tom State Reservation offers 20 miles of well-maintained and well-blazed trails. Several trails (such as that to Goat Peak) are appealing for those who prefer trees to people while hiking.

This trail offers just enough of a challenge to be interesting to the older kids while remaining negotiable for the younger ones. At the summit, you will be rejuvenated by the panoramic views of the Connecticut Valley from the watchtower, one of only two on the reservation. (The annual count of the hawk migration is made from this tower.)"

Nothing special here. Very easy hike, not much elevation gain but LOTS of trails to run around on. The fire tower has some good views and the views of Hamptons are nice. I was too late to see any hawk migration which mt Tom is know for in the fall

This is a nice and easy hike for all ages. The view from Goat Peak offers a nice view of Easthampton and Northampton. There is a fire tower at the top of Goat Peak that extends your view of the Connecticut River valley. Goat Peak is just one of many trails Mt Tom reservation has to offer. For a slightly more challenging hike, I recommend taking the M&M trail from goat peak to the Mt Tom on the south end of the ridge.
