South Cape Beach State Park Professional Review and Guide
"A relative newcomer to the Massachusetts Forests and Parks system and part of Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR), this 401-acre park has all the earmarks of an up-and-coming star. The Department of Environmental Management (DEM) has slated improvements for facilities, trails, and roads, but even as the park struggles through infancy, hikers find enjoyable discovery. Crystalline-sand beaches; vital ponds and wetlands; nesting piping plover, tern, and osprey; and an off-season wilderness solitude all recommend a look.
Located on the SW corner of Cape Cod. An inland nature trail and pair of beach hikes explore the park offering. Special attractions: Coastal and bay beaches; estuarine and freshwater ponds; marsh, coastal shrub, and woods habitats; bird watching; surf fishing; beachcombing (no collecting)."
