Slocums River

Slocums River Professional Review and Guide

"Expect to see herons, egrets, and nesting osprey as you paddle this
delightful estuary. The upper reach is well-protected, but expect winds
in the more open lower bay, especially in the afternoon; it’s best to paddle here in the morning. Look for fiddler crabs along the shore at lower tides."

Did this in early Aug 08. River was calm up to mouth and, exactly as described, it gets choppy in he open water during the afternoon. We did a challenging open-water crossing detour and got a good workout. Beautiful area.
