Upper Goose Pond

Upper Goose Pond Professional Review and Guide

"This out-and-back hike on the Appalachian Trail reaches one of the Berkshires’ most scenic ponds in a serene location reminiscent of northern New England.

From the kiosk with a display map, walk east a short distance to the pedestrian crossing sign at US 20. Do not walk along US 20 as this is very hazardous— no shoulder in spots. Use caution crossing the highway! A narrow, blue-blazed access trail on the north side of the highway leads through a forest of American beech, eastern hemlock, and white pine. Paralleling US 20 for about 100 yards, it soon joins the AT. Turn right and follow the white-blazed path down to the highway."
